Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa (may require travel between all LH sites)
Wage Schedule: $39.070 - $56 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager of the Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Care Centre Emergency program. The Registered Nurse will be responsible to work independently and within a team structure to provide comprehensive care to patients who disclose sexual and/or Intimate partner violence. The nurse will be proficient in the standards of care as outlined by the Network of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centers (ONSADVTC). The care may include, but not limited to, acute care services and follow up care, community outreach and education of program mandate to internal and external partners in care. The Nurse must maintain high level of personal integrity and professional adherence to all standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Nurses may be required to appear in court as required to provide testimony. Participate in community groups/coalitions in the promotion and development of initiatives related gender based violence. The nurse will be a resource and expert with respect to sexual and/or intimate partner violence which requires mandatory and ongoing education and training related to Sexual Assault Response as well as supporting the ONSADVTC and community initiative in victim advocacy. As an active member of the Emergency Department team you will participate in daily huddles, support program goals and objectives in addition to supporting patient related care activities as assigned in the Emergency Department. May require travel to other LH sites to provide acute care services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
" Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
" Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) certification and experience required
" Completion of Pediatric Nurse Examiner Training and experience preferred or willing to complete within 2 years
" Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department Experience preferred
" Current B.C.L.S.;
" Demonstrated commitment to maintaining Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CON;
" Demonstrated knowledge and application of crisis intervention skills and use of sound, independent clinical judgement;
" Ability to deliver trauma informed care with a high degree of proficiency applying a trauma informed lens to include knowledge of diversity and cultural uniqueness of patients.
" Demonstrated ability to provide unbiased, non-judgemental information, support and care to all patients
" Demonstrated ability to advocate for clients and effective liaison with community partners is essential (i.e police, shelters, advocacy groups);
" Demonstrated a high level of effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team player;
" Possesses leadership skills with the ability to mentor and educate staff, community partners and patients
" Ability to work independently, be self directed with demonstrate initiative
" Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and report hazards;
" Knowledge of the mental health, addiction and vulnerable patient populations
" Demonstrates high level of communication skills with emphasis on discussing highly sensitive and triggering content with care and sensitivity
" Ability to function in high conflict environment with the ability to prioritize patient safety along with personal safety
" Must have a exemplary performance and attendance record;
" Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
" Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education session
