The Role:

Join our team as a Recreation Therapy Aide and play a key role in enhancing the lives of seniors! You will be responsible for planning and facilitating a variety of recreational, social, and therapeutic programs tailored to the unique needs and abilities of our residents. If you’re passionate about working with seniors and making a meaningful impact through engaging activities, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate engaging recreation programs for residents, promoting physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Assist with seasonal events and special outings, creating memorable experiences for residents.
  • Document participation and maintain accurate records, ensuring residents' progress is tracked effectively.
  • Prepare and post program notices and calendars, keeping residents and families informed.
  • Provide therapeutic one-on-one visits under the guidance of the Director of Recreation Therapy.
  • Report residents' progress to the Director, ensuring timely documentation into clinical records.
  • Supervise and support volunteers, ensuring smooth program delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team, fostering a positive and supportive environment.
  • Take on cross-functional duties as needed, including assisting with feeding.

Who We're Looking For:

Education & Experience:

  • Certification as a Recreation Therapy Aide (or equivalent certification).
  • Experience in Long-Term Recreation Therapy is highly desirable.
  • Food Safe Handling Certificate.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Supportive Pathway training.

The Brenda Strafford Foundation owns and operates four Long Term Care and Assisted Living seniors care facilities in Calgary, AB, and Okotoks, AB, with over 800 beds and approximately 1000 staff.
