PART TIME CONTROLLER
Ontario Flower Growers Co-Operative (OFG) is a distributor of cut flowers and potted plants. Members and guest growers supply product to customers in the greater Toronto and surrounding areas and U S.
Strong financial control is required as we grow and navigate through change.

Financial Controller to work (two days per week)undertaking control of all aspects of financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, inventory, member shares and equity, risk management as well as development of internal accounting control policies and procedures. Controller must have strong interpersonal and communication skills with several years of hands-on controller-ship experience. Must have experience effectively communicating key data and information to management, the Board, members and stake holders. The financial Controller reports directly to the CEO and interacts with various department heads.
Responsibilities:
· Manage and control all financial transactions and reporting including all accounting, GL, cost centers, inventory and revenue recognition
· Maintain chart of accounts and orderly accounting filing system
· Maintain grower member shares and equity including commission structure.
· Prepare budget and financial forecasts
· Prepare and present monthly financial statements reporting variances to management and the board
· Reconciliation of all bank accounts
· Manage cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts
· Prepare/ support month-end and year-end close process
· Prepare all supporting documents for the external annual audit
· Research technical accounting issues for compliance
· Manage and comply with all local and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing
· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies maintaining strong internal controls
· Provide financial analysis to evaluate new ventures or projects, programs, capital expenditures etc.
· Manage banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under competitive terms
· Communicate with outside audit firms, banks/credit card companies, insurance agents, and collections
· HST & Tax Reporting
· Treasury Management
Work experience requirements:
· 5+ years in a controller position
· 15+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience (Co-Operative experience an asset)
· Experience in negotiation insurance renewals and of general insurance programs
· CPA designation
· Experience in preparing financial statements
· Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
· Strong excel skills (AS400 experience an asset)
