The Department of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Vocational Counsellor within Training and Employment Services Branch.
The Manitoba government has a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long-term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family-related leave and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers). Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Must be able to provide and maintain a satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.

Must possess a valid full class 5 Manitoba Driver’s license, access to a vehicle and the ability to travel within the Province of Manitoba.

Ability to work overtime, including evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post secondary degree in Social Sciences (preferably BSW). An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
- Case management experience including referral and intakes, performing comprehensive assessments, establishing interventions, service planning, service coordination, counselling, monitoring and evaluation in a social service setting.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities and their families in the provision of a range of services that meet family, health, social and employment needs.
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and establish working relationships with families, colleagues and collaterals.
- Ability to work effectively individually as well in multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate information to a variety of audiences.
- Effective written communication skills to write clear and concise correspondence to a variety of audiences including detailed reports.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) or equivalent software.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including managing multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
Desired:
- Knowledge of the mandate and services of Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities (formally market Abilities).
Duties:
Reporting to the Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities (EAPD) Provincial Program Manager, the Vocational Counsellor is accountable for the provision, case management and program delivery of services to eligible persons with disabilities including mental, psychiatric and learning disabilities.
