The ideal candidate will be flexible, adaptable, detail oriented, and motivated to grow within the company. As an important member of the design team, you will assist the Design Manager. Home Package Design Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design process for Pacific Homes projects (mainly residential construction), ensuring clear communication between design, sales, site, and shipping. Unlike a typical design role, the HPDC role emphasizes cross-functional coordination, issue resolution, and maintaining the quality and timing of deliverables.
What You’ll do:
Design Oversight and Execution
-
Construct initial structure model at or before job initiation.
-
Design decks, timber trusses, knee braces, and other manufactured items.
-
Design EWP/dimensional floors and coordinate special-order items.
-
Ensure specified materials are practical and constructible.
-
Produce and review design documentation to meet both aesthetic and structural requirements for specific projects.
Project Coordination & Communication
-
Act as the central point of contact for design-related issues across departments.
-
Maintain clear and consistent communication with the design, site, sales, and shipping teams.
-
Coordinate with component designers (Walls/EWP/Trusses) to ensure design alignment.
-
Communicate and track changes across all stakeholders and update project documents accordingly.
-
Assist with structural design questions, escalating to engineers when necessary.
-
Ensure that changes from sales, site, or engineering are documented and executed through proper channels (e.g., change orders).
Project Timing & Priority Management
-
Monitor and manage design timelines, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
-
Re-prioritize tasks in response to shifting deadlines or project changes.
-
Keep all stakeholders informed of updated timelines and delivery expectations.
Quality Control & Design Review
-
Review detailed designs (Walls/EWP/Trusses) post-design phase for completeness, accuracy, and coordination.
-
Use a component-specific checksheet to verify structural and aesthetic integrity prior to production.
-
Confirm compatibility across components (e.g., trusses fitting with walls and beams)
-
Identify and resolve issues such as bracing requirements, hanger mismatches, or engineering discrepancies.
-
Coordinate engineering reviews and ensure necessary sealed documents are produced and distributed.
Site Support & Issue Resolution
-
Serve as the ongoing design liaison once construction begins.
-
Respond to site queries directly or via sales/contractor channels.
-
Troubleshoot design concerns, collaborating with component designers as needed.
-
Ensure site has the latest layout documents and product specifications.
Job Initiation Duties
-
Review plans and specifications before designers are assigned.
-
Identify and address early design or material issues.
-
Ensure special-order hardware and components are quantified at project start to maintain schedule alignment.
Special Orders & Procurement Support
-
Create and manage special order lists (e.g., timbers, hardware).
-
Ensure procurement teams (Pacific Homes or Pacific Truss Purchasing) receive lists in time for order fulfillment.
-
Follow up to confirm delivery alignment with project timelines.
What You Bring:
-
Proficient in the use of structural design software (Mitek Sapphire) and knowledge in other drafting software is an asset
-
Experience in designing components for production is beneficial
-
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
-
Knowledge of standard construction practices, building codes, and carpentry
-
Understanding of structural engineering design
-
Preferred 1-2+ years’ experience in both Commercial and Residential wall or truss design
-
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects at various stages
-
Knowledge of building materials and installation practices
-
MS Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, HubSpot CRM, are assets
-
Strong coordination skills, able to communicate professionally and effectively.

High degree of accuracy and strong ability to focus.

Attention to detail, takes pride in the quality of work

Proficiency in interpreting architectural and structural plans.

Problem-solving mindset with flexibility to adapt to shifting project priorities.

Efficient and able to complete orders within a given deadline
