THE POSITION
As the Team Lead – Rotating Equipment , you will be responsible for leading the maintenance strategy and execution for all rotating equipment at the KFS facility. This includes oversight of Millwrights and contractors, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations aligned with Keyera’s mission and values.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership
- Act as the technical expert for Millwright trade disciplines and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, etc.).
- Lead work identification, validation, planning, scheduling, and execution for rotating equipment.
- Ensure effective use of CMMS (Maximo 7.6) for all maintenance documentation.
- Support planning and purchasing of corrective and preventive maintenance work orders.
- Manage off-site equipment overhauls and repairs with third-party vendors.
- Monitor and optimize PM and PDM programs to drive proactive maintenance culture.
- Participate in daily and weekly scheduling meetings, backlog reviews, and MOC processes.
People & Performance Management
- Lead and develop a team of Millwrights and contractors, ensuring alignment with Keyera’s cultural behaviors and corporate values.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and individual development plans (IDPs).
- Ensure team competency, training compliance, and engagement in continuous improvement.
- Provide coverage for the Maintenance Manager as needed.
Safety & Reliability
- Promote a safety-first culture with a strong field presence.
- Own and resolve Maximo events (e.g., near misses, incidents, hazard IDs).
- Ensure adherence to procedures, standards, and industry best practices.
- Conduct job site visits to evaluate safety, quality, and compliance.
Financial Management
- Accountable for OPEX, R&M, maintenance capital, and AFE project budgets.
- Develop cost-effective strategies for in-house and third-party repairs.
- Identify and implement maintenance cost avoidance and supply chain value initiatives.
- Lead annual AFE submittals for rotating equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, and thorough with the following qualifications:
- Journeyperson Millwright certification or equivalent technical background (P.Eng, P.Tech, C.E.T).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on rotating equipment.
- Prefer 2+ years of leadership experience in a maintenance or operations environment. However, considerations for strong candidates with no formal leadership experience and willingness to grow as a leader.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS systems (preferably Maximo 7.6) and understanding of industrial facility maintenance workflow processes.
- Proven ability to lead technician teams, manage contractors, and drive proactive maintenance strategies.
- Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal and process safety, plant reliability, and continuous improvement.
