Accounting Coordinator (Full-Time, Permanent)

Location: Edmonton, AB

Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company.

Reporting to the Controller, this role will support the financial operations of the organization by assisting in various accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Accounting Coordinator will work closely with senior employees and accounting staff to contribute to the accurate and timely preparation of financial reports.

Additionally, the role may involve collaborating with other departments to provide financial information and support decision-making processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional development and growth.

What you will do:

  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and perform accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.
  • Collaborate with staff to reconcile monthly credit card transactions.
  • Maintain Capital Assets and Prepaid Expense reconciliations.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries for related job activities as required.
  • Administer and distribute T4A’s related to awarded scholarships.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate financial reports for various committees.
  • Provide member support following Board of Director meetings, committee meetings, and other ARTA sponsored events.
  • Assist in full-cycle accounting for the charitable foundation.
  • Perform daily accounting tasks to support financial operations.
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records and documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform daily scanning and filing duties.
  • Provide support during audits, including interaction with auditors as required.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to support financial analysis and decision making.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned or required.

What you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 3 - 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including full cycle accounting.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, BC365, or similar) and databases is an asset.
  • Excel proficiency - skilled in leveraging advanced functions, data analysis tools, and complex formulas to enhance efficiency and generate valuable insights.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, decisive, driven and committed to organizational success.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills of the utmost importance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
