This role sits within Laurentian Bank.
The syndication team carries out major financial transactions in partnership with other banks, risk sharing and facilitating access to larger funds. As part of this team, the incumbent underwrites complex new transactions, preparing amendment requests and annual reviews. He/she understands customer activities, performs detailed financial analyses and interacts with the credit team. Once the transaction is approved, he/she ensures that all financing conditions are met, as well as legal and regulatory aspects, and maintains optimal communication with all internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex new transactions within our Loan Syndication Group;
- Manage an existing portfolio of both commercial and corporate clients (up to 20 accounts); prepare amendment requests and annual reviews;
- Understand clients' business, conduct detailed financial analysis based on financial statements and compare them with industry standards and competitors;
- Perform credit analysis and sensitivity analysis to assess the depth of financial performance under different economic situations; Interact with Credit answering questions and coordinating responses with Agents.
- Once the transaction is approved, ensure that all financing terms are met, and all legal and regulatory aspects of transaction are complied with;
- Maintain and optimize communication with all internal and external stakeholders involved in the department's operations.
Qualifications
- University degree in a related field, preferably in finance, accounting or business administration, and eight years of experience in a similar position
- MBA, CFA, CPA, an asset
- Previous underwriting experience particularly on large cash flow loans / asset-based loans / leveraged loans ($10-$40 million range) a definite plus
- Ability to draft clear and logical loan applications
- Skilled at conducting market analyses and other verifications (due diligence) required for loan approval
- Working knowledge of financial assessment and financial statement analysis techniques
- Solid communication skills required to track and negotiate complex transactions
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and assessment techniques
- Strong coaching skills
- Excellent knowledge of evaluation techniques
- Organized and capable of working with tight deadlines
- Bilingual* (French/English) a plus.
- Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
