What you will do:

We’re looking for a Director, Commercial Law to lead and elevate our commercial legal function across a diverse, growth-oriented organization.
As Director, Commercial Law, you’ll play a key leadership role within our Legal Department, advising business and functional teams, leading contract negotiations, managing regulatory compliance, and supporting corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings. You’ll also oversee and modernize our commercial contract frameworks, ensuring they reflect best legal and business practices.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives as a generalist and can pivot across legal, regulatory, and strategic commercial matters with confidence and clarity.
️ Key Responsibilities
- Lead the administration, negotiation, and drafting of complex commercial contracts.
- Provide practical legal advice across departments to ensure day-to-day legal compliance.
- Maintain and enhance our commercial legal precedents and standard forms.
- Stay current on commercial law, regulatory updates, and best practices in all jurisdictions we operate in.
- Support regulatory matters including Privacy Law, Securities Law, minute books, and corporate filings.
- Play a critical role in major corporate transactions such as M&A, divestitures, and restructuring.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: LL.B. or J.D. and licensed to practice in Ontario (member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in a law firm or in-house legal department with commercial focus.
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Solid understanding of commercial and regulatory law.
- Excellent judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams).
