About The Opportunity Our Public sector client has an exciting opportunity to a Buyer to join their team on a Contract to Permanent capacity. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Reviews, approves, or recommends for approval purchase orders in support of day-to-day, after verifying them for conformity to policy procedures and good business practices
- Supports the Contracts Department in requests for quotation/proposal for Standing Offer Agreements, evaluating submissions, making recommendations for award, assists in implementation and manages agreements once they are in place (specifically through purchase orders)
- Conducts vendor evaluations and analysis, including vendor audits, corrective action with vendors and maintaining vendor evaluation and selection criteria documentation
- Identifies the current inventory control information system requirements relating to the purchasing function and coordinates updates or corrective action as required
- Assists in the procurement of material
- Establishes northern suppliers with bid and purchase documentation
- Ensures that purchased items that require special handing of goods are delivered to sites according to WHMIS, TDG and hazardous material guidelines
- Performs other duties/projects as assigned, to support the overall program and mission, and other initiatives
About You The successful candidate will have the following:
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, logistics, material management or related
- Minimum five years’ related experience in a high-volume purchase, materials management or logistics environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of procurement methods
- Adaptability and ability to manage priorities with attention to detail and work cross-culturally
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office), strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate within a team environment
- Excellent teamwork skills, and the ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Completion of level 2 of PMAC is preferred
- A working knowledge of Maximo, Oracle, and/or Oracle Discoverer would be an asset
- A working knowledge of project management would also be an asset
- Candidates must be a Canadian citizen and cleared at a Reliability level and be eligible for a SECRET security clearance (10 years of verifiable information in Canada)
About the Job
- Duration: To start ASAP – Possibility of conversion after 6 months
- Location: Ottawa
- Work set-up: Onsite with the possibility of hybrid once trained
- Compensation: $70K to $80K + Benefits + Pension
