Position: Nurse Practitioner (EC RN)

Work Type: Part Time

Location: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)

Position Summary :

Functioning within the multidisciplinary team, the NP collaborates with the General Surgeons to facilitate the assessment and treatment plan for surgical patients. The NP is an expert clinician who provides history, physical, and diagnostic assessment to establish a plan of care and expedite early discharge for surgical patients. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Position Requirements:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses as a Nurse Practitioner (Extended Class)
  • Masters of Science (Nursing) or a masters in a relevant discipline preferred
  • Current certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a member in good standing
  • Ability to be self-directed and work autonomously
  • Ability to function within a collaborative practice model is required
  • A comprehensive knowledge base in surgical care area is needed, 5 years of clinical practice is required
  • Ability to exhibit a high degree of clinical competence in caring for patients requiring general surgical management
  • Ability to assess, manage, direct, and provide comprehensive care for surgical patients while working with an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • The NP explicitly consults the inter-professional team when care is outside of the NP scope of practice and/or not covered by a medical directive
  • Ability to support patient program development is necessary
  • Ability to promote professional education and advances knowledge through research and scholarly activities is necessary
  • Good attendance record
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
