About the role

We are looking for a self-motivated COHI (Children’s Oral Health Initiative) Aide with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The COHI Aide will work the Health Promotion Team to provide prevention oral health services to the LLRIB Health Services for the Community of La Ronge, if you feel like this would be good fit for you and your career ambition, we encourage you to apply.

About the Organization: LLRIBHS promotes Dental Health services and Dental Health education to all community members of LLRIB. We work closely with the schools and other health organizations. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we both address acute needs and the determinants of health.

About the position: Working within the Lac La Ronge Indian Band Schools you will provide fluoride treatments for 0–7-year-old children, instruction on oral hygiene, (brush & floss), deliver oral health information sessions and respond to questions, promote good oral health habits and maintain records of activities during COHI Sessions.

Duties:

  • Arrange, book and confirm appointments with parents/caregivers for dental services;

  • Conduct home visits;

  • Gather dental and medical history consent forms;

  • Implement and deliver fluoride varnish program for 0–7-year-old children;

  • Distribute oral health information for community use;

  • Transport clients to clinic if required;

  • Maintaining dental supplies inventory by checking stock;

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered);
  • Strong organizational skills and able to multi-task;
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and public relations skills;
  • Ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset;
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset;
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License;
