Overview of the Position:
A Service Technician - Mechanical oversees the diagnosis, repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of power generation equipment, as well as industrial engines. This role requires a robust mechanical aptitude, adept troubleshooting skills, and a steadfast commitment to safety protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on engines, with a focus on John Deere, Kubota and Mitsubishi models.
- Perform repairs and planned maintenance on back-up power generators.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, including but not limited to: charging systems, sensor faults, wiring and connections, fuse and relay failures, communication faults, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), engine starting problems, loss of power, overheating, unusual noises, and fuel system issues.
- Perform new generator commissioning.
- Utilize the latest diagnostic tools and technology to accurately service and repair equipment.
- Diligently perform both shop and field service tasks.
- Interpret and analyze electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Comply with all industry standards, as well as company safety procedures and policies, to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Must hold Journeyperson Certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician. Red Seal endorsement is considered an asset.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial mechanical and electrical experience is preferred.
- Prior experience troubleshooting and problem-solving John Deere, Kubota, and Mitsubishi engines, or competitor brands as well as Kohler and Blue Star generator and control systems is an asset.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including varied hours and travel, as needed to support our customers.
- Customer-centric with strong relationship management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Own or willing to purchase basic set of mechanical and electrical hand tools (socket sets, wrenches, power tools, impact guns, air drills etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency with email communication and Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Strongly committed to mentoring and supporting apprentice development through constructive feedback and skill-building.
- Committed to upholding a high standard of integrity, professionalism, and work ethics.
Work Environment:
A Service Technician – Mechanical will occasionally be required to perform repetitive motions, including lifting, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, torquing, pulling, carrying, pulling, crouching, backward positions, standing for extended periods, etc.
Physical Job Requirement:
This position requires occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. throughout a workday.
