About the role

Summary The Senior Geological Technician will provide services to operations, addressing underground requirements with providing leadership to the junior geological staff. Responsibilities include but not limited to the supervision of the Production Geological Technician and Core Loggers as well as day-to-day activities, grade control, exploration and definition drilling, database management, interpretation, 3D modelling and supporting mineral resource estimations.

Position Responsibilities Accountabilities and duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Lead the team in conducting safety shares every day.
  • Lead by example, maintain safety standards by completing all required safety checks, audits, and inspections whereby equipment and process are protected against hazards with a proven commitment to health, safety, and the environment.
  • Demonstrate required behavioral skills including productive communication, cooperation, productivity, initiative, creativity, and dependability.
  • Train and provide mentorship to Beat Geologist on shift and provide coverage when required.
  • Daily supervision of the Production Geological Technician
  • Work with the Beat Geologist to ensure grade control models are completed in accordance with the forecasted timelines.
  • Assist the Chief Geologist to implement Deswik Software across the department.
  • Work with the Senior and Chief Geologist to plan delineation drill programs.
  • Supervise and monitor core logging.
  • Complete safety inspections in the core shack and other areas in geology department.
  • Verify QAQC assays and help maintain the chip/DDH database integrity.
  • Coordinate with the drill contractor by establishing daily communications on drilling progress and any other issues that require immediate attention.
  • Monitoring DeviShot data.
  • Help to ensure schedules given to the contractor are adhered to and implemented in accordance with the established plan.
  • Assist in addressing any safety concern the contractor may have.
  • Other tasks that may be assigned by the Chief Mine Geologist

Qualifications & Experience

  • BSc in Geology, Geological Engineering, Geological Technician, or related field from a 4-year college or university; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience in mining geology, preferably underground
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Promine; and/or equivalent modeling design software
  • The ability to lead/guide others and communicate to other departments to achieve the company’s drilling and production goals.

LOGISTICS OF THE ROLE

  • This position is located at our Eagle River Mine location near Wawa, ON.
  • In this role, you will work a 14 days in / 14 days out therefore you will have meals and accommodations provided at our camp.
