Position Title Faculty (On-Call Pool), Auto Service Technician Who We Are

Position Summary

BCIT’s School of Transportation is seeking a temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty, Auto Service Technician to teach in the Automotive Program at our Burnaby campus.

Please note: Appointments will be of varying durations, providing temporary coverage for both pre-scheduled and unplanned absences for full-time, permanent faculty. Duties & Responsibilities

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Teaching, evaluation, and preparation for both online remote delivery and in-person delivery.
  • Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking and student marking.
  • Curriculum maintenance and program enhancement.
  • Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training.
  • Working collaboratively with other instructors, Department Heads, and Associate Dean.
  • Other duties directly related to the support and delivery of the programs.
  • Short-term coverage for full-time faculty release.
  • Preparing for classroom presentations and practical demonstrations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Must have a Red Seal Endorsement in Automotive Service Technician for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical skills necessary to instruct the curriculum.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial manner within a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop course resources and training technologies.
  • Current computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and a Learning management system (LMS): ability to manage files located on a database.
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma or previous post-secondary instructing experience is an asset.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.
