About the role
Job Summary The Business Analyst leads key activities including eliciting, analyzing, validating and documenting business, organizational, and/or Information Technology (IT) operational requirements, and related business rules to determine best solutions to client business needs, plans, and objectives. The functions a Business Analyst may be expected to perform include (but are not limited to):
- Work closely with the Project Manager/Product Owner to define and execute agreed upon Business Analyst deliverables and scope for assigned projects.
- Conduct business analysis and research to determine the integration of the evolving business requirements that will fulfill user needs and increase the efficiency and efficacy of the programs, including:
- Liaise with business users and technology clients to facilitate the development of the business requirements into solutions.
- Organize and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with project stakeholders, team members, and end users.
- Develop business requirements documentation in various standardized artefacts.
- Conduct requirements review walkthrough sessions.
- Develop and establish partnerships with lines of business in order to become fully knowledgeable with their business support systems, issues and processes, including:
- Identify current and future needs and developing business plans and strategies for their implementation.
- Work closely with clients and project stakeholders to collaborate on the best solution(s) to meet the client business needs.
- Determine the feasibility of business requirements and alignment to business needs.
- Conduct research, analysis of new business solutions for possible client use by evaluating new products for their potential to address business requirements, keeping up with current trends, participating in information sessions / seminars, and meeting with manufacturers and service providers.
Education
- Undergraduate degree and four (4) years of experience*, or
- College diploma and six (6) years of experience*, or
- High school diploma and seven (7) years of experience*.
The Undergraduate degree/College Diploma must be obtained from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
Experience
- * Experience performing business analysis functions for IT related products, solutions or services.
Candidates Must Also Possess
- Four (4) years of experience working on projects in an Information Management (IM)/Information Technology (IT) environment with technical and non-technical stakeholders in which they were analyzing requirements, liaising with business and technical stakeholders, leading requirement elicitation working sessions, and developing and presenting recommendations/solutions to business partners and senior management.
- Four (4) years of experience gathering requirements for projects.
- Two (2) years of experience with providing presentations to managers and/or senior Executives.
- Four (4) years of experience in the review, development, and application of business process models such as use cases, process maps, and workflow diagrams.
- Four (4) years of experience with BABOK methodology.
- Two (2) years of experience preparing written communications for technical and non-technical stakeholders at various levels.
Assets An asset qualification is a qualification which can enhance the ability to perform the work based on current and future business requirements, but which is not strictly required. Assets can help determine right fit in certain circumstances.
- Valid IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) Certification.
- Experience working with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- xperience providing analysis, advice, and recommendations related to the implementation of new technologies or applications.
- Experience working with BPMN methodology.
- Experience working with Agile methodology.

The written exam is pass or fail. Successful candidates will be invited to a competency-based interview.
Competency Based Interview The Competency Based Interview will assess candidates’ experience, knowledge, and the competencies listed in the section above.
