This role follows UVic business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; however, evening and weekend work is required to accommodate and support Athletics and Recreation events.
Job Summary
The Campus Engagement Assistant provides administrative and logistical support for key department and campus engagement initiatives within Vikes Athletics and Recreation. Reporting to the Campus Engagement Officer, the Assistant plays a key role in coordinating and supporting Vikes Nation events, maintaining communications and materials for the Vikes Nation Ambassador Program, posting content to social media accounts, and supporting collaboration with campus partners. The position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to enhancing student engagement and campus spirit. This role will require evening and weekend work to accommodate the Athletics and Recreation events schedule.
Job Requirements
Experience:
Completion of secondary school and a minimum of one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment.
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, and external partners.
- Technologically proficient, with knowledge of Microsoft Office, social media tools, and basic digital editing platforms.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in fast-paced event settings.
- Knowledge of Vikes Athletics and Recreation and an interest in promoting school spirit and campus involvement. Knowledge and/or experience with an athletics and/or recreational sport/activity participation is an asset.
