Job Posting Manager of Facilities Chinook Education Centre Competition # 3 80 7 Due to the retirement of the Manager of Facilities, Chinook School Division requires a Manager of Facilities at the Chinook Education Centre in Swift Current. The Manager of Facilities will provide leadership and strategic oversight for the operations, maintenance, and development of Chinook School Division facilities.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in facilities operations or a similar role
  • Post-secondary education in facilities management, engineering, construction, or a related field
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Strong understanding of building systems and project management best practices
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
  • Working knowledge of legislation & applicable codes that apply to educational facilities
  • Publicly supporting the school division's philosophy, policies, and programs
  • Travel between school division sites as required
  • Participating in division-wide strategic planning and emergency response coordination

Duties Leadership of facility operations

  • Supervision of the oversight of the daily operations and maintenance of all school division buildings and grounds
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and building code regulations
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs to optimize the lifespan of physical assets
  • Oversee coordination of custodial and maintenance staff to ensure consistent service standards

Project Management

  • Lead planning, budgeting, and execution of facility projects including renovations, upgrades, and new construction
  • Collaborate with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure alignment with Division goals and policies
  • Key role in shaping the three year Preventative Maintenance and Renewal (PMR) plan

Leadership in stewardship of people, buildings and grounds

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to a team of maintenance staff
  • Foster a collaborative and respectful workplace culture
  • Identify training and development opportunities to support employee growth and succession planning
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and service excellence
  • Ensure responsible and sustainable use of resources in alignment with environmental and fiscal priorities
  • Engage with school communities to understand and address facility-related needs
  • Contribute to long-term planning for capital improvements and facility life cycle management

Accountability

  • Develop and manage facilities budgets, ensuring efficient use of funds
  • Prepare and present facilities accountability report to the Board
