Executive Director Operations
About the role
Reporting to the Vancouver Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Vancouver Executive Director of Operations (EDO) is responsible for the operational activities of FDU Vancouver including facility management, and multi-year business and facility planning. The position acts as a part of the leadership team, while also directly supporting Human Resources and Information Technology. With the COO, the EDO, Vancouver provides overall supervision of all campus-based student support units and administrative departments to ensure that they are functioning effectively and efficiently and in accordance with University policies and procedures. The EDO, Vancouver, assumes the responsibility of the COO in case of his or her absence.
PRINCIPALDUTIES:

Assists the COO in creating an environment that supports the Campus and University goals and objectives and fosters a sense of community among students, faculty, administrators, staff, and guests. Assures a quick response to the program, service, and infrastructure needs of the Campus.

Assists the COO in enforcing the Campus and University administrative policies and standards.

Oversees all hiring and appointments for all Vancouver-based staff in accordance with the policies and procedures defined in the University’s Employee Handbook.

Oversees current and future capital planning and projects including coordination with consultants and internal staff to manage construction projects, equipment purchases, furniture, service contracts, etc. Monitors all pertaining budgets and other control systems for capital projects.

Develops and implements policies and programs for administrative operations and building security.

Working with the Leadership Team, establishes enrollment targets and goals for the Campus and is responsible for the achievement of those goals.

Participates with the COO and other senior officers of the University in the development, review, and implementation of University policies and procedures.

Oversees administrative services including facilities management, space planning, and Campus safety and security, and the development of policy for the Vancouver Campus as appropriate.

Negotiates with vendors for contracted services: facilities, maintenance, security, custodial, vending services, printing, and bookstore.

With the COO, oversees human resource practices for the Vancouver Campus.

With the COO, and the Quality Assurance Coordinator, ensures compliance with regulatory agencies, including the preparation of required reporting obligations.

Researches, analyzes and reports trends and benchmarks with other organizations regarding financial and operational practices.

Acts as the Privacy Officer for the Vancouver Campus
-
Where appropriate oversees Accommodations for Students with Disabilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree required.
-
Administrative experience in higher education including staff management and fiscal accountability. Extensive knowledge of university operations required.

Ability to provide leadership to diverse constituencies and develop and maintain effective and constructive collaborative relationships with Campus administration and staff at all levels.
-
Outstanding oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills.
-
Demonstrated ability to provide organizational leadership and a commitment to working in an inclusive, diverse and fully participative organizational culture.

Outstanding organizational skills.

Computer proficiency in data management, spreadsheet, and word processing applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague a plus.

Valid passport required for international travel.

Canadian residency or work permit required.

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Insurance Number.
