About the role
Your Opportunity:
As a Maintenance Worker I, you will work as a part of our Facilities maintenance and Engineering Houseman team. Daily tasks will primarily include moving equipment throughout the facility and supporting event set ups for site level functions and training sessions. Additionally, as a Houseman you may perform routine tasks related to grounds keeping and facility maintenance. Working independently and/or as part of team, you may maintain lawns, assist with site litter control, collect and dispose garbage, remove snow and ice, spread salt and sand, clean mechanical rooms and shop areas, and assist tradespeople and other maintenance staff as needed. Exhibiting a high level of professionalism and customer service, you will communicate with staff on a regular basis. The primary location will be at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Gene Zwozdesky Center at Norwood but if an event unfolds, this person may be asked to work at other sites within the zone. Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
Possession of a valid driver's licence.
Additional Required Qualifications:
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and effectively. Effective communication skills to interact with team members, staff and event organizers. Must be able to work in a hospital environment and work around traumatic events that occur in a hospital setting. Must demonstrate the AHS CARES values at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma. Ability to use electric mules, pallet jacks (manual and electric), various carts/wagons, furniture and equipment dollies, minor tools (screw drivers, hammers, pliers, etc.) and hydraulic lifts, furniture & equipment dollies. Proficient computer skills.
