Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Looking to make a real difference in people’s lives? We’re hiring an Employment Placement Specialist to help individuals with disabilities and complex barriers connect to meaningful employment opportunities. If you’re passionate about inclusive hiring, creative job matching, and building strong community partnerships, this is your chance to empower others and create lasting impact!

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the successful candidate will conduct comprehensive client assessments through discovery interviews and interpret specialized reports to develop individualized employment action plans. They will collaborate with support networks and employers to create customized job opportunities through job carving, workplace accommodations, and the use of assistive technologies. Responsibilities also include providing resume support, interview preparation, on-the-job coaching, and ongoing retention support to promote long-term employment success.

The specialist will build and maintain strong relationships with local employers, promote inclusive hiring practices, and offer guidance on implementing workplace accommodations. A strong understanding of disability-related issues, accurate documentation, and timely progress reporting are essential, with all services delivered using a strengths-based, client-centered approach.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education and training in social services, rehabilitation counselling, or career development, with at least three to five years of experience in Customized and Self-Employment services, particularly supporting individuals with disabilities and complex barriers.

The candidate should demonstrate strong client-centered assessment skills, cultural competency, and excellent interpersonal, communication, and group facilitation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ICM, effective time management, critical thinking, and flexibility to work outside regular hours are also essential for success in this role. Additional language skills are an asset.

A valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle are required; a First Aid certification is considered an asset.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
