What it’s like to be a Northbridge Underwriting Specialist Northbridge Underwriters customize solutions for our commercial clients when they need insurance products. They work closely with our extensive broker network to develop unique solutions for all classes of risk while being responsible for servicing increasingly complex accounts in accordance with existing guidelines and business objectives.

As part of our Construction & Contracting (C&C) team, you’ll underwrite mid- to large-scale construction projects across the ICI, Residential, and Civil sectors. Our unique package underwriting model allows you to manage Property, Casualty, and Auto risks under one portfolio—giving you full ownership of the risk and strengthening your broker relationships.

The Underwriting Specialist is responsible for underwriting and servicing increasingly complex accounts in accordance with established guidelines and business objectives in the achievement of national standards for data quality and service level agreements. Our Underwriting Specialists are experts in their field and passionate about maintaining strong relationships with our brokers – this means emails and phone calls don’t go unanswered, and in-person broker meetings are regularly penned into their calendars.

Working in a collaborative team, there is the opportunity to coach and mentor junior colleagues and further develop your skills from our more experienced underwriters to help grow your appetite for complex risks. You’ll also collaborate in weekly underwriting huddles, attend on-site inspections with Risk Services to deepen your technical insight, and represent Northbridge in construction industry associations as we expand our national footprint.

If You Are Great At

• Underwriting – executing renewal rates, evaluating, and negotiating proper rates
• Sales and negotiations
• Solutions-oriented thinking
• Developing and maintaining professional relationships with brokers and/or customers
• Coaching and mentoring more junior underwriters on the team

And You Have

• 5+ years of Underwriting experience
• Completed or pursuing your CIP, FCIP, or RPLU designations
• Strong customer service background
• Team-first mentality
