1‑Full Time ‑ Coordinator

Biochemistry Core Lab

The Biochemistry Coordinator reports to the Technical Director of Laboratory Services and is responsible for

supervision of staff and all activities related to the accurate and timely reporting of biochemistry results.

The Primary Responsibilities:

· Development, revision and file maintenance of all policies, procedures and manuals related to work flow processes

and chemistry reporting

· Ensure compliance with Accreditation Canada Diagnostics requirements, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care

Licensing, laws & regulations, etc.

· Ensure accuracy and precision of all reportable results

· Review, monitor and troubleshoot all quality control results and quality assurance audits

· Investigate and reply to Quality Management Program, i.e., external quality assurance/proficiency testing –

Laboratory Services proficiency survey discordant results

· Remain knowledgeable of advanced current developments in procedures, products and instrumentation. Identify

those that would improve patient care, client needs, quality of results and turnaround times.

· Instrument / equipment selection, evaluation, validation and training/competency of end users

· Supervision and training of Core Laboratory staff responsible for pre‑analytic and analytical processes; to include

scheduling, performance appraisals, competency assessment and participation in the hiring process

· Provide leadership and be a resource person for staff; liaison with the medical scientific layer (PhD Biochemist, etc.

including the Technical Director and Laboratory Medical Director, as required)

· Responsible for staff safety and ensuring compliance with document requirements in the Laboratory Safety Manual

· Participate in strategic planning, budget preparation, cost saving measures, waste reduction and account for

departmental expenditures

Employment Requirements:

· Degree from an Accredited University / College

· Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) certification/designation with a current license to practice (current member

of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario)

· Minimum 6 years of recent experience in Biochemistry and in a supervisory role

· Must possess effective communication, writing, listening and reading skills to coach, problem solve and improve

work flow processes

Salary Range: $54.884 to 64.571
