The Opportunity

Rocky View Schools (RVS) is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team for a continuing, full-time position (35 hrs/week), starting September 2, 2025.The Procurement Specialist ensures that goods and services required by Rocky View Schools (RVS) are purchased from qualified suppliers and delivered according to the agreed terms and conditions. The Procurement Specialist achieves these objectives while seeking maximum value through time and cost saving agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Compiles information from end users to develop specifications for procurement documents such as

    Expression of Interest (EOI), Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ), Request for

    Information (RFI), and Request for Technical Qualification (RFTQ)

  • Posts/Advertises requests on applicable site(s)

  • Organizes evaluation of request responses by facilitating evaluation committees, negotiating with

    successful respondents and awarding contracts

  • Completes all documentation associated with the procurement and manages contracts resulting

    from awards

  • Informs staff in other departments or schools of appropriate standing contracts systems

  • Recommends product replacement in consideration of life cycle costs

  • Develops and implements supplier electronic procurement solutions

  • Trains RVS staff regarding all supply management processes including: requisitioning, purchasing,

    and electronic procurement solutions

  • Develops scale of issue listings and monitors capital purchases against budgets

  • Organizes material delivery, and assists with redeployment or disposal of surplus furniture and

    equipment

  • Interacts with vendors to ensure timely delivery of goods and services

  • Ensures vendor order adhere to supplier agreements and contracts, and reports any vendor non-conformance

  • Evaluates new vendors, conducts vendor appraisals and tours manufacturing sites when necessary

Education/Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Supply Management, Commerce or related field

  • Current Supply Management Designation such as Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB) or

    Supply Management Professional (SCMP) or willingness to attain

  • 2 year’s progressive purchasing experience

  • Previous experience within school division or public sector employer is considered an asset

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proven ability to establish collaborative working relationships with internal and external clients

  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task with multiple changing priorities

  • Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal

    supervision

  • Effective organization, prioritization and time management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications

  • Exposure to public purchasing and familiarity with current purchasing laws including agreements

    affecting provincial, national and international trade is considered an asset
