Our Grenada location in Mississippi, United States is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Technical Manager. This job is permanent, full-time.

Primary Purpose

Responsible for managing, directing developing, and implementing all environmental, quality assurance, mill automation, analytical, and statistical concerns and services.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the safety and Environmental effort in the Technical Department. Actively participate in the mill’s safety and environmental advocacy effort.
  • Ensure that a complete environmental compliance program is maintained.
  • Maintain a quality assurance program to maximize customer (pressroom) satisfaction. Evaluate mill’s reliability performance in terms of runnability / printability, customer feedback and world class benchmarks. Visit pressrooms to evaluate product performance and host customer visits to the mill.
  • Manage departmental expenses.
  • Directly supervise 1 exempt employee.
  • Provide and/or coordinate proper analytical services to all areas of the mill and to meet the needs & request of customers. Assist with new product development and trials. Gather and distribute meaningful mill quality data and information to internal and external customers.
  • Manage the mill’s energy usage.
  • Lead capital project initiatives.
  • Participate in various committees, meetings, etc., to increase knowledge and promote Resolute’s Operational Excellence goals

Knowledge and Experience

  • B.S. degree or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a technical degree with 5-10 years of relative paper industry experience.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of customers’ printing processes and requirements.
  • Must be able to manage the Technical Department effectively, assign workloads, assess needs, coach, and counsel.
  • Strong analytical abilities and good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with customers and other departments in the mill.
  • Must be able to assist in troubleshooting, development, and continuation of customer relations.
  • Must have working knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Must have a track record of continuous improvement
