THE ROLE We are seeking a Canadian Tax Manager that will lead corporate tax reporting and compliance for the Live Nation Canada and Ticketmaster Canada groups of companies. This role will be relied upon as an internal Canadian subject matter expert in consultation with internal specialists and external advisors.

This position will report to the SVP, Global Tax and will work closely with finance and accounting leads of Live Nation Canada and Ticketmaster Canada as well as tax professionals across the organization.

What This Role Will Do Corporate Tax Planning & Compliance

  • Complete annual tax compliance for Live Nation Canada and Ticketmaster Canada entities
  • Lead tax planning approach to intercompany accounts, profit distributions and payment of cash taxes
  • Assist internal International Tax Team with corporate structuring in establishing tax effective hierarchy

Transfer Pricing

  • Regular review of business operations and workflows to assess transfer pricing strategy and processes including cost structure, intercompany charges and markups, including documentation for compliance
  • Coordinate necessary charges and payments with finance/accounting groups across the organization

Cross-Border Tax

  • Evaluate contract structure and transaction flows of Canadian entities that transact cross-border, both internally and externally
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Non-Resident Withholding Tax as issues arise when transactions occur with non-resident clients
  • Support internal International Tax team with detailed insights from the Canadian businesses

Tax Provision

  • Prepare calculations for monthly tax provision and remittances across business segments
  • Primary point of contact on behalf of Live Nation Canada and Ticketmaster Canada to provide quarterly tax reporting on provisions and payments and provide ad hoc updates for public reporting and financial statement audits

Tax Developments

  • Provide updates and guidance regarding tax developments impacting Canadian businesses; recent examples include federal Digital Services Tax and provincial Marketplace Facilitator rules
  • Lead evaluation on the impact to Canadian businesses and assist in structuring operational response

Audit support

  • Lead income tax and transfer pricing audits
  • Support the businesses when undergoing CRA audits in all areas of tax including GST/HST/PST, payroll tax, etc

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with SOX and internal audit requirements
  • Support the international tax team with special projects and analysis

What This Person Will Bring

  • 5+ years of comparable experience in large corporate environment for publicly-traded company, and/or public accounting with a preference for Big 4 or large regional firm
  • CPA designation or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related subject required
  • Completion of In-Depth Tax Program
  • Focused experience on corporate tax with exposure to a variety of business taxes
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with CRA on audits and guidance
