The opportunity:
The Project Assistant provides support to the Unit and the faculties at project outset with new requests, project central organizing and contracts support for AES staff. They will review AES project documentation to ensure department processes are maintained and act as the Facilitator of Project Central by initiating input of new projects and ensuring AES staff are updated in a timely manner. The Project Assistant will provide assistance to AES staff regarding operation of Project Central and complete documentation in accordance with the AES Project Delivery Procedures. They will also provide backup and support to the CAD staff and to the PA-Signage regarding costing, design, procurement and installation. The Project Assistant also provides assistance to project staff on various project related tasks.
A high degree of collaboration with other Physical Plant team members and external stakeholders is required. The Project Assistant applies sound technical and administrative skills in order to organize the efforts of various Stakeholders, Consultants, and Contractors towards successful execution of the work.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Undergraduate degree required, project management training in related field would be an asset.
- Diploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology from an accredited College preferred.
- Management training would be an asset.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience required.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations required.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Advanced technical and administrative skills required.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD required.
- Professional and respectful working manner with highly effective verbal and written English communication skills required.
- Ability to make technical observations on project sites and work directly with Contractors required.
- Ability to assist in the planning, scheduling, organization, and coordination of signage projects required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professional results is required.
- Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities within a fast-paced environment required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
