About the role

We are seeking a bilingual and experienced French Language Instructor to lead TEF Canada exam preparation courses specifically designed for adult learners pursuing immigration to Canada.

This role is ideal for a dynamic educator who understands the high-stakes nature of French proficiency testing in the immigration process. You will play a key role in helping students achieve their target TEF scores by delivering focused instruction, developing exam-oriented materials, and supporting learners through their language certification journey.

Key Responsibilities

Exam-Focused Instruction

  • Deliver targeted French instruction aligned with TEF Canada exam requirements, including the four key competencies: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
  • Design and teach lessons that reflect the structure, content, and timing of the TEF Canada exam.
  • Provide learners with strategies, practice exercises, mock exams, and individualized feedback to improve performance.
  • Continuously adapt lessons based on student progress and test readiness.

Curriculum Development & Oversight

  • Develop and maintain TEF-focused instructional materials, mock exams, and preparatory resources.
  • Ensure alignment with Canadian immigration language benchmarks and CLB equivalencies.
  • Integrate exam-taking strategies and real-world language applications relevant to immigration and settlement in Canada.

Student Support & Success

  • Assess learners’ initial proficiency levels and track progress throughout the program.
  • Offer personalized coaching and support to help learners meet immigration language requirements.
  • Foster a culturally inclusive, motivating classroom environment where adult learners feel supported and confident.

Program Coordination (as needed)

  • Support scheduling, material updates, and learner intake for TEF preparation courses.
  • Coordinate with administration to ensure instructional consistency and high-quality delivery.
  • Collaborate with staff and students to maintain clear pathways from language training to immigration goals.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree. Preferably in Education, French or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience teaching French as a Second Language (FSL), ideally with a focus on TEF Canada or TCF preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of French language proficiency testing, Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB), and their role in the immigration process.
  • Experience working with international learners or newcomers to Canada is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; empathetic and results-oriented teaching approach.
  • Proficient with online and in-person instructional tools (Zoom, Google Classroom, Teams, etc.).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
