The Opportunity
The Purchasing Manager actively manages the day-to-day purchasing function for the Oak Bluff division. Ensures supply continuity, good supplier relationships, and solid suppliers’ performance on Quality, Cost, and Delivery. This role will be responsible for ensuring that we have the right product in the right place at the right time in order to support production and minimize costs.
The Team
The role will report to the Plant Manager
Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with Manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Planning & Scheduling, and Finance to implement strategic and tactical objectives, defining priorities to support AGI financial objectives.
- Ensures supply continuity, managing inventory costs, quality, delivery timelines and warranty concerns.
- Collaborates in the development and implementation of cost reduction initiatives and negotiating price reductions with suppliers.
- Supports supplier selection and contract negotiation process for key projects.
- Maintains appropriate Supplier Relationship Management programs for strategic and critical suppliers in the concerned categories of spend.
- Develops and manages working relationships with both internal AGI functions and suppliers to manage resolution of supplier issues.
- Drives standardization and efficiency improvements across the plant purchasing team; ensure policies, processes and procedures are in compliance with AGI initiatives.
- Provides coaching and mentorship to direct report(s) to ensure succession planning and strong bench talent.
- Other Supply Chain and business activities assigned in accordance with the role.
- Follow AGI’s Code of Business Ethics and related compliance policies.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in the field of business or equivalent.

5-7 years' progressive experience in purchasing and inventory management field preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Must have working knowledge of safety stock levels, min/max levels, reorder points what inventory turns mean for the business.

Personal computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Strong interpersonal skills including customer service, listening, teamwork, and follow through.
-
Basic math, statistical accounting skills.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills with extensive phone etiquette, tact, and discretion.

Decision-making and analytical/problem solving skills.
-
Strong conflict resolution, relationship building, sales and negotiation skills.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks at same time and to meet deadlines/goals.

Organized, detailed, and results oriented.
