The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders, promotes appropriate and effective policing, and supports community and public safety services throughout Saskatchewan. The Ministry is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan's correctional system and facilities and for providing guidance and support to Saskatchewan's municipal police services.
Join the Accounting and Public Reporting unit in the Corporate Services Division as a Senior Accounting Clerk. Use your exceptional problem solving, accounting, and communication skills to ensure accuracy while following applicable policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Public Reporting, the successful candidate will be responsible for the review of day-to-day accounts receivable, payable transactions and for training accounting clerks. They will also be responsible for reconciling accounts receivable. This position is fast-paced and functions on a one-team approach. It requires the ability to organize and prioritize workload daily. The successful candidate will also work with cost share and service level agreements.
The successful candidate will have:
- Extensive knowledge of the accounts payable and receivable systems in MIDAS;
- Knowledge related to public sector accounting and administrative procedures and policies; and
- Knowledge of general ledger systems and computer applications, specifically Word and advanced Excel skills.
Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a diploma in accounting or a combination of education and related experience.
