Building Manager (NOC 62024)

We are looking for a full-time Building Manager for a residential strata corporation located in Burnaby (Brentwood Mall Area). The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the property ensuring an excellent living experience for its resident including:
- building maintenance duties (60%)
- janitorial (20%)
- trade activities facilitation (10%)
- client’s queries (10%).
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience including:
- A friendly, positive, customer-centric self-starter who is eager to solve a problem for the Client
- Proactive and hands-on approach to janitorial and building maintenance responsibilities.
- Effective communication skills are in-person, via email or by phone.
- Comfortable using technology such as computers, mobile phones, and software applications.
- Previous experience as a caretaker, trade person, janitor, or apartment concierge is an asset.
Job Duties:
- Perform general janitorial duties including keeping the garbage room and main lobby clean and tidy, vacuuming carpets on residential floors, and conducting a property litter patrol.
- Perform maintenance duties and minor repairs as needed. [i.e. change burnt-out lights, change a lock, patch a wall, pressure wash exterior common areas, snow removal, etc.].
- Manage regular pool maintenance and safety checks to ensure cleanliness and compliance with regulations.
- Identify maintenance issues as they arise and act to rectify them if possible or report them to the management promptly.
- Oversight and access of building service providers such as garbage, recycling, and landscaping services ensuring that all contractors/service providers complete their work properly and promptly.
- Support First Respondents and implement emergency procedures when necessary.
- Conduct monthly security checks on equipment such as generators, fire alarms and other systems as required.
- Perform daily inspections of the parkade and oversee enforcement of parking regulations.
- Respond to owners ‘and tenants queries, assist or refer to appropriate
- Provide a log of work performed daily and prepare a weekly overview for the management.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Constant walking and monitoring of building equipment and physical structure
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to climb a ladder up to 10 feet
- Must be able to climb building stairs up and down
- Requires writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability, and visual accuracy
- Must be able to work at least 8-hour shifts with regular statutory breaks.
- Must be able to have a reasonable basic ability to use a mobile phone, mobile applications for texting, emailing, calling, and making visual recordings, and use basic personal computer applications such as email and Microsoft Word.
- Lifting, pulling, and managing equipment and tools.
- Working in all weather and must be prepared for both extreme heat and cold.
- They must ensure that all activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Fluency in English both verbal and written
- Grade 12 – post-secondary education an asset
Location: Burnaby (Brentwood Mall Area)
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday day shift
- Day off on Statutory Holidays
Compensation & Benefits:
- $27 per hour
- Extended health benefits, dental, and life insurance after 6 months of employment
