We are looking for a Shipping Assistant supporting our Delta, BC location.
Union Position: USW 2009
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Always follow safety protocols, PPE, safe driving, seat belt usage, daily inspections of equipment, amount others.
- Shipping and receiving materials to and from production warehouse.
- Transport materials to and from trucks, pallets, shelves, racks, and floor areas by hand or with material handling equipment (fork-lift, truck, or hand cart).
- Count, weigh, identify, and keep records of all materials handled.
- Report defects and breakage of materials handled.
- Demonstrate a professional attitude when dealing with customers.
- Ensure the correct paperwork corresponds with the material being shipped or received.
- Assist with counting for regular inventories.
- Provide back up support to head shipper.
- Clean the yard and always keep it organized.
- Follow Company policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Good understanding of shipping paperwork.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to work independently and as a team.
- Able to organize work and workplace efficiently.
- Able to operate a fork-lift truck in a safe and responsible manner.
- Math proficiency required for inventory management.
- Able to complete paperwork accurately.
- Physically capable of performing heavy work.
- First Aid Certificate preferred
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum grade 12 education.
- Forklift driving ticket required.
