Position Overview
Reporting to the Director Programs & Partnerships, the Manager, Operations provides leadership and strategic direction to the daily operations and delivery of key programs. You will oversee a multidisciplinary team for food programs and drop in.
You will be responsible for the effective management, evaluation, and strategic development of these and other community-focused programs within a faith-based environment.
Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Development
· Lead the planning and execution of program goals in alignment with Fontbonne Ministries’ strategic priorities and mission.
· Oversee day-to-day operations of core programs (e.g. food program, drop-in center, friendly visiting), ensuring services are integrated, high-quality, and person-centered.
· Design and implement new program initiatives and service improvements to better meet community needs.
· Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using insights to drive continuous improvement and demonstrate impact.
· Ensure all programs comply with relevant regulations and quality standards and consistently reflect our mission and values.
Team Management & Development
· Supervise and mentor a multidisciplinary team of program coordinators, staff, and volunteers, providing clear direction, support, and leadership.
· Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-one check-ins, and performance evaluations to foster accountability and growth.
· Promote an inclusive, collaborative work culture grounded in respect and compassion, in line with Fontbonne’s core values.
· Provide coaching and professional development opportunities that empower staff to excel and advance in their roles.
Operational Excellence & Oversight
· Manage program budgets and organizational resources, ensuring effective allocation for sustainability and maximum impact.
· Develop and refine operational policies and systems to enhance efficiency, accountability, and scalability of programs.
· Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and reporting requirements, upholding the highest standards of practice.
· Collaborate with internal departments (e.g. Finance, HR, Facilities) to ensure the infrastructure and support systems are in place for smooth program operations.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
· Collaborate with the Development & Community Relations team on funding opportunities – contributing to grant proposals, donor engagement, and stewardship efforts.
· Represent Fontbonne Ministries at community networks, meetings, and events as an ambassador of our mission and programs.
Qualifications
· Education: Post-secondary education in a relevant field; Master’s degree in health/social services, public administration or a related field is preferred (or equivalent experience in the sector)
· Experience: 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in the non-profit or human services sector. Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and community-based programs.
· Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with issues of food insecurity, mental health, social isolation, and elder support services. Commitment to person-centered, trauma-informed approaches is an asset.
· Leadership Skills: Demonstrated strength in strategic planning, budgeting, and program evaluation. Strong interpersonal, communication, and consensus-building skills to effectively lead staff and collaborate with partners.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud-based productivity tools; comfort adopting new technologies to improve operations.
