About the role
We seek an experienced individual with 15+ years of experience to join our dynamic and
growing team in Canada as a member of the Financial Lines team.
Responsibilities
- Technical Expert with cycle management experience possessing a track record of underwriting profitable new and renewal business
- Growing and ensuring profitability of our Financial Lines book of business within the framework of our underwriting guidelines
- Achieving annual new business targets
- Providing superior service to our brokers and clients at all stages of the underwriting process
- Developing new and maintaining existing broker relationships in support of our business objectives
- Customer-focused approach in developing customized solutions for our clients
- Conducting broker and client presentations
- Enhancing our brand visibility by participating in industry events, socials, conferences etc.
- Working with our Management and Sales Distribution teams, as well as our Head Office, in the development of business plans and marketing strategies for the Financial Lines book
- Processing new and renewal business on a timely basis
- Ensuring proper file documentation and accuracy of policy documents
Qualifications
- 15+ years of underwriting experience in D&O, Crime and related lines of business. Experience underwriting Financial Institutions is an asset
- Leadership experience, including experience building and growing a Management Liability portfolio
- Demonstrating a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
- Solid technical knowledge of D&O and Crime policy wordings and underwriting methods.
- A broad network of relationships with key Canadian brokerages and clients is required
- Ability to mentor and develop team members
- Excellent market reputation with brokers, colleagues and industry peers
- Strong analytical skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent is an asset
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Exceptional negotiation, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written English skills
- Working knowledge of French and/or German considered an asset
- Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word & Outlook)
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced team environment
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or other insurance designations preferred (RPLU)
