This introductory course examines the critical relationship between popular culture and queer sexualities in historical and contemporary contexts. The course will draw upon literature from performance studies, media studies, and queer of colour cultural productions. Students will engage with a range of queer public cultures and arts, including drag performance, queer musics, social media networks, and popular media.
Estimated Course Enrollment: 80
Estimated TA Support 130 Hours
Class Schedule: Mondays, 3:00pm-5:00pm
Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025
Salary (0.5 FCE): $9,820.70 for Sessional Lecturer I ($10,510.04 for SLI Long Term); $10,510.04 for Sessional Lecturer II ($10,760.28 for SLII Long Term); $10,760.28 for Sessional Lecturer III ($11,030.36 for SLIII Long Term), inclusive of vacation pay

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in sexuality studies, LGBTQ+ studies, or related field.
Preferred qualifications: Doctorate degree in sexuality studies, LGBTQ+ studies, or related field. Experience teaching in a university environment.
Description of duties: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus, and lectures; delivering lectures; developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams; calculation and timely submission of grades; conducting scheduled office hours for academic counselling of students.
