About the role

The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for leading, performing and coordinating maintenance and repair work for managed residential and commercial properties in the Chilliwack area. Reporting to the Sr. Property Manager, BC, this role will direct, manage and prioritize the workflow of tasks to be carried out by the maintenance technician team. This role will work with trades and subcontractors, ensuring proper scheduling and coordination. The expectation of this role is to lead our maintenance team in providing friendly, responsive, quality maintenance service to our clients, demonstrating knowledge of building code and health code requirements, construction expertise and leadership in our fast-growing rental management organization.

Hourly Pay Range: $38.00 – 42.00 /per hour.

What you’ll be doing

• Perform and lead maintenance and repair requests for Prokey Living properties.

• Communicate positively and responsively with tenants and site managers.

• Lead unit turnovers, including pre-move out planning, unit renovations, and preparation for new tenants.

• Support property management rentals and workflow direction.

• Work to actively lower total deficiencies and streamline property operations.

• Work to actively improve quality by communicating recurring deficiencies to the construction management team to improve our rental construction product.

• Efficiently manage items on the maintenance tracking software, ensuring they are completed and entered accurately.

• Provide broad construction technical knowledge and mentorship to team members and trades.

• Represent Westbow’s core values and strive to continuously improve all facets of the property maintenance team.

• Conduct employee reviews and manage performance expectations as required.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years of residential construction experience

• Well-rounded construction and property maintenance skills including finishing carpentry, drywall, painting, and appliance diagnosis and light repair.

• Knowledge and experience working with residential and light commercial mechanical systems, plumbing, basic electrical, and appliance repair required

• Red Seal journeyman in carpentry, HVAC/Sheet Metal, electrical, or plumbing considered an asset

• Certification on Forklifts, Genie or other lift machines considered an asset, or willingness to complete training

• Basic computer usage abilities including the ability to learn and navigate various software

• Physically able to lift up to 25 kg

• Ability to travel between local sites as needed, along with a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle

• Experience managing teams considered an asset
