Reporting to the General Manager, Centre for Emerging Research Initiatives (CERI) IDEAWORKS, the Educational Programming Operations Coordinator is a new temporary position funded by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). This position will be instrumental to the delivery and evaluation of new community-based, simultaneous or “tandem” educational programming for college-level student-caregivers and their early-year and school-aged dependents.

The incumbent will support implementation two evenings a week, serve as an operational liaison between project stakeholders, collect on-site data and programming activities, and contribute to information sharing activities.

In alignment with the protocol outlined in the grant application and further refined in the project work plan and research methodology, the incumbent will work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including staff in the Learning Support Centre, staff and faculty in the Early Childhood Education programs, Registered Early Childhood Educators, partners at the Hamilton Public Library, Neighbour to Neighbour, collaborators at the University of Guelph, and many Mohawk College students.

  • Meet regularly with the General Manager CERI, core research team, and delivery team to discuss program development and ensure projects are meeting timelines.
  • Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders, including the research and delivery teams.
  • Coordinate program implementation to ensure fidelity to established protocols.

On-Site Attendance

  • Attend and coordinate all “tandem educational programming” sessions.
  • Schedule staffing needs to be present at each session (i.e. tutors and program facilitators in collaboration with the Hamilton Public Library, Learning Support Centre, Early Childhood Education programs, and Registered Early Childhood Educators).
  • Coordinate program implementation and program facilitators and problem solve any issues if/as they arise.
  • Responsible for adhering to appropriate Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.

On-site Data Collection Oversight and Management

  • Collect, manage, and store confidential implementation data according to established protocols.
  • Provide feedback on program and overall project implementation.

Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Must be able to provide a valid Vulnerable Section check at time of hire.
  • Three (3) years work experience.
  • Strong planning/organization, time-management, multitasking, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.

What we offer:

  • Opportunity to gain experience and build relationships at a Hamilton/Niagara Top Employer.
  • Access to professional development opportunities.
  • Option to enroll in Defined Benefit pension plan (CAAT) with contributions matched by Mohawk College.
