The Senior Manager of Accounting Policies and Procedures ensures the appropriateness and integrity of financial accounting & reporting for specific areas in International Banking. This is done through the implementation of accounting policies, providing technical advice to different teams for day to day queries and complex transactions, integration and divestiture of new entities acquired, where applicable, working with unit finance staff regarding major GAAP changes impacting the unit and Toronto teams, and providing advice to units implementing PeopleSoft (Enterprise GL). The Senior Manager must have advanced knowledge of the IFRS standards impacting the banking industry and be able to research a broad range of GAAP. Research ability and communication skills are critical to the role.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Implementation of IFRS accounting policies, which may include assessing the impact of changes and developing practical well controlled solutions given the local system, regulations and accounting standards, and implementation of BNS policies in newly acquired subsidiaries.
- Provide accounting advice through research, analysis and documentation of accounting issues for both (1) ad-hoc queries from units and (2) specialized transactions (which could include due diligences, business combinations etc.)
- Assist with local unit implementation of PeopleSoft (EGL) and/or provide advice to ensure consistency across the Bank for different EGL projects.
- Be a liaison between LATAM and Caribbean units and Chief Accountants team.
- Other projects as required.
- Support to Director as required.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Canadian accounting designation highly desirable.
- Experience in a complex financial reporting / accounting policy role, including implementation of complex new accounting requirements in an international banking environment
- IFRS knowledge and experience required
- A minimum 10 years experience in the financial services industry, exposure to complex accounting issues and detailed IFRS knowledge.
- Must possess a solid financial acumen and strong organizational analytical and problem solving skills
- The ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across many units / departments of within the International Bank and other areas of the Bank such as EO Finance and Wealth Line of Businesses.
