Join our team as a Community Support Worker as part of our Independent Living Program in North Delta. This temporary part-time role works Monday to Friday (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM), at a salary range between $25.95 - $29.76 per hour, plus benefits, including Extended Health and Dental and participation in the Municipal Pension Plan per eligibility. This position requires union membership.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a part-time Community Support Worker, you will work 25 hours per week assisting one person served that lives independently. You will be actively engaging this individual to live a fulfilling and independent life. You are a motivated and personable individual with a passion to deliver person-centered supports. You assist with their physical, social, emotional, educational and recreational needs. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Following an individual care plan,
  • Supporting life skills including menu planning, cooking, budgeting, household chores,
  • Accompanying person served on community outings (i.e., grocery store, medical appointments);
  • Developing monthly plans and facilitating activities based on client’s interests,
  • Documenting activities and observations in the client’s file,
  • Must be physically healthy to aid in lifting and transferring of persons served and be able to provide personal care including toileting and grooming.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate/diploma/degree in a field related to Human Sciences and 1 year of practical experience working with developmental and physical disabilities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Class 5 (or Class 4) driver's license
  • FOODSAFE Level 1
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR
  • MANDT Training
