About the role
POSITION SCOPE:
The Cost Financial Analyst provides financial support focusing on cost related functions throughout the organization. This role is responsible for precisely costing and articulating the financial impact of full-cycles of products and programs. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of cost accounting, monthly material closing cycle, as well as the end-to-end workflow from ideation to delivery in order to effectively evaluate cost competitiveness aligned to strategic growth and incremental volumes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provides assistance in weekly physical inventory count and damage adjustment for all plants warehouses
- Perform month end material ledger closing, GL accruals and Inventory reconciliation by working with cross functional Finance teams
- Provides support in the year end external auditing focus on Inventory and cost reporting
- Prepares monthly departmental management reports and review variance to plan to ensure effective management of financial impacts of departmental decisions
- Analyze and review of monthly material moving average reports and review variance against actual rate
- Recommend and advise on existing process flows and documentation across the organization for improved design, development, distribution and costing
- Audit the costing of all Standard Cost SKUs and releasing cost to MM module
- Conduct variance analysis on material, labour and overhead vs. standard costs
- Assist as needed in the costing plan or budget preparation for the organization
- Act as a key user for SAP CO and MM module
- Assist booking in month end closing entries to close financial book
- Additional projects and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance required ; CPA designation highly preferred Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) are a must .
- SAP knowledge is a MUST.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Extremely high attention to detail and accuracy in validating data.
- Minimum of 3 years' of experience, preferably in a direct cost accounting function from within a warehouse distribution environment
- Ability to prioritize and cope with competing and changing objectives
- Demonstrated success in taking or finding complex data, conducting analysis and translating it into meaningful information to be used by various levels in the organization
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
This position also includes:
- Demonstrated experience and ability working with extremely complex information as related to analysis, problem solving, and develop effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to receive nominal direction regarding work responsibilities, discretion and judgement must be exercised in translating broad organizational goals into specific objectives
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction regarding very complex work that has general objectives and provides guidance and consultation to senior management
- Demonstrated understanding that actions, decisions and approvals have a wide-ranging influence on the organizations operations
- Demonstrated ability to apply a moderately high degree of creativity or innovation in carrying out duties
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other departments, while maintaining confidentiality and scope
- Capability to deliver a consistently high level of customer service to external customers is required
- Understanding that work efforts has a moderate impact on the employer brand and public reputation and as such ensure that behaviour and communications shall be professional and accurate at all times with outside vendors
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- All work is performed in a standard office environment with limited exposure to adverse conditions or health and safety risks
- Position requires low level of sustained visual attention, moderate manual dexterity on a regular basis with sitting at length
