Title: Educational Assistant - Supply

Position Type: Daily Occasional

Position Open To: External Applicants Only

Posting Overview:

The Educational Assistant, under the direction of the Principal, will assist in the implementation of pupil programs and services. The Lambton Kent District School Board, serves more than 21,000 students in 50 Elementary and 12 Secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent. Prospective qualified Educational Assistants who are able to work on a daily occasional basis are invited to submit their applications.

  • must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week;

  • must be available to work 10 months during the school year;

  • must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton;

  • must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;

  • must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Applicants must possess a post secondary diploma in one of the following: CYW, DSW, SSW; or a two

year diploma in an Educational Assistant Program;

  • ECE diploma with special education experience may be considered (proof of membership with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators required);

  • PSW diploma with additional related experience may be considered;

  • Other related education and experience may be considered.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

  • Working with physically disabled, developmentally disabled, multiple exceptionalities & medically fragile, behaviour, speech & language, learning disabled, mildly intellectually disabled, autistic;

  • Supervising and implementing daily routines;

  • Implementing teacher designed and supervised instructional programs;

  • The ability to meet the physical demands of the job which includes attending to the physical care/needs of the student(s); includes toileting, feeding, lifting and positioning students in a safe manner, implementing therapist recommendations; attending to needs of seizure activity and the non-catheterization procedure (training provided);

  • Communicating effectively with teachers and students relative to Educational Assistant duties;

  • Working effectively as part of the school team.
