Wood is recruiting for a Technical Writer to join its Canada Projects business. This opportunity is hybrid, and can be based in Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

This position is responsible for developing reports, proposals and other technical materials to support our project teams. The Technical Writer will collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and functional support teams where appropriate to produce high-quality documentation that we are proud to submit to our clients.

  • Developing content for proposal submissions – project specific and within established programs

  • Developing reports for submission to clients as part of project deliverables

  • Developing other technical materials which could include training, change management, processes/procedures

  • Reviewing and refreshing proposal content

  • Participating as a contributing member of a team, communicating effectively with these members on various tasks and projects as assigned

  • Following client-specific and department style guides and writing standards

  • Investigating and gathering information required to complete assignments within deadlines

  • Interviewing the client or subject matter experts to obtain information

  • Communicating with subject matter experts to review content for technical accuracy

  • Reporting progress to Project Manager and updating progress trackers

Expected:

  • Degree or Diploma in technical writing or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing
  • Strong English reading and writing skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with SMEs and clients
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Experience with content development tools (e.g., Storyline, Captivate) and learning management systems (LMS)

  • Spanish speaking is an asset but not required
