The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Music Therapist (Contractor) for 20 hours per week at our Evergreen Community in White Rock. This role is a contractor (non-staff) position, with an invoicing model.

This is a unique opportunity to use your musical gifts and clinical expertise to support seniors in a person-centered care environment rooted in empathy, excellence, and joy.

About The Role

As the Music Therapist, you’ll work as part of an interdisciplinary team to enhance the emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being of residents through music. Using evidence-based practices and therapeutic approaches, you will design and deliver both group and individual music therapy sessions. You’ll support care planning through assessments and documentation, contribute to education for families and team members, and promote a soundscape that is welcoming and enriching for all.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct assessments and design individualized and group music therapy programs for residents
  • Deliver therapy using a variety of approaches including improvisation, movement, and guided imagery
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to contribute to holistic resident care
  • Participate in care conferences and provide input to resident care plans
  • Educate families, staff, and volunteers on music therapy techniques and goals
  • Maintain records, statistics, and reports in line with professional and Baptist Housing standards
  • Manage and maintain instruments, equipment, and program supplies
  • Contribute to wellness initiatives and community life through sound and music

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from a recognized institution
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT)
  • Music Therapist Accredited (MTA) credentials preferred
  • Proficient in at least two instruments (e.g., piano and/or guitar) with strong vocal ability
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in music therapy, ideally in long-term care
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to perform the role and facilitate engaging sessions

Demonstrated understanding of aging and person - centred care

Compensation

This is a contractor role paid at $55.00 per hour, with services invoiced directly to Baptist Housing.

Your work location will be at the Evergreen Community, located at 1550 Oxford Street, White Rock, BC—a peaceful seaside community designed for comfort and care.
