Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Manager, Events this position is responsible for pursuing and servicing business for the River Rock Casino Resort while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, develops strong relationships with new and repeat guests and is accountable for the sales of in-house conferences and events including guest rooms, meeting rooms, catering, theatre and casino related functions and events. Finds and develops markets in coordination to the need-periods of the resort.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of events, guests, orders, payments and Solicits, negotiates and books new and repeat business through telemarketing, mailing, on- site inspections, referrals, tradeshows, etc.; maximizes sales and profitability of the resort
- Plans, up-sells and details meetings and function with the client, including space requirements, dates, times, equipment, menus, billing instructions, etc
- Conducts site tours/inspections throughout the resort
- Manages and resolves guest issues efficiently and promptly
- Liaises closely with the Banquets operation to ensure a smooth implementation of each event
- Maintain accurate records on all River Rock Casino Resort’s guests, orders, payments and expenses
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and employees)
- Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed
- Ensures that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy
- Greets customer during the event phase and hands-off to the Event Operations team for the execution of details.
- Manages group room blocks and meeting space for average to large-sized assigned groups.
- Acts as liaison between field salesperson and customer throughout the event process (pre-event, event, post-event).
Education And Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Post Secondary hospitality or hotel education or suitable combination of education and experience
- SIR, Smart Serve or IGB Certificate
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
- Ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Background Check
- Computer literacy in MS Office
- Experience with Opera/Fidelio, Micros an asset
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Sales and Event Management

Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including late nights, weekends, and holidays. The hours of work will be based on operational and business needs.
