Job Purpose & Responsibilities
This is a permanent, full-time position with the Land Use, Planning, Development, and Regulatory Services Department.
Reporting to the Municipal Enforcement Team Lead (Supervisor), this position is responsible for:
- Responding to municipal bylaw complaints, enforcing municipal bylaws, and responding to animal complaints while acting under the municipal bylaw;
- Prevention and maintenance of the public peace through enforcing specific municipal bylaws;
- Enforcement activities / patrols, record keeping, and assisting with Community Peace Officer related tasks as assigned;
- Supporting the work of Community Peace Officers in performing functions that assist in maintaining peace in the community.
Qualifications & Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Program or equivalent is considered an asset
- Must complete and pass a thorough Criminal Records check conducted by the RCMP
- Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License and a satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- A strong working knowledge of computer operating systems, especially Microsoft Office
- Must be able to work independently and cooperatively, interact with the general public, be available for flexible shifts, and be comfortable working outdoors.
More Details
This position is within the scope of AUPE Local 118/016, and as such you will be required to adhere to articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
Salary for this position is $30.04/hr.; hours of work are 40 hours per week. The incumbent must be adaptable to shift work, and available to work days, nights, and weekends.
