About You / What We Are Looking For

The City of Coquitlam is seeking a motivated, organized, and professional individual with excellent customer service, interpersonal, and accuracy skills for a part-time receptionist role at City Hall. The Clerk Typist 2 is responsible for managing City Hall switchboard and reception services, performing data entry, basic accounting, typing, and handling general office administration tasks. The successful candidate will independently manage customer service and clerical duties, ensuring a welcoming reception area while efficiently handling calls, correspondence, and administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must have completed Grade 11, possess knowledge of modern office procedures, be proficient in operating office equipment and using Microsoft Word and Excel, and demonstrate strong decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate has previous experience in a similar customer facing reception or administrative role supplemented with courses in Business Administration or a related field, as well as previous experience managing a busy switchboard. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is essential while experience with, AMANDA and CEDMS or related software will be considered an asset.

What We Offer:

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $28.26 - $33.09 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills. This regular part time position offers a 25-hour workweek, scheduled Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
