Litigation Law Clerk – Insurance and Risk

Key Responsibilities
- Communicating with clients to obtain documents;
- Reviewing, summarizing and indexing records;
- Drafting pleadings, motions, affidavits of documents, status reports, etc.;
- Maintaining communication and updates with clients, including scheduling meetings and assisting with regular reporting to clients;
- Communicating with plaintiffs’ and co-defendants’ counsel to obtain appropriate productions;
- Managing large document file productions and medicals in Relativity;
- Ensuring files are prepared for Examinations for Discovery, including preparing of chronologies and/or medical summaries;
- Identifying appropriate experts, and retaining and communicating with them;
- Reviewing discovery transcripts and following up for and tracking undertakings
- Preparing for trial, including Pre-Trial, Trial, Pre-Hearing and Hearing preparation;
- Managing electronic hearings and trials;
- Maintaining the electronic Bring Forward database;
- Drafting closing documents including draft orders, consents, and releases
- Arranging surveillance
- Maintaining files
Qualifications
- At least five (5) years of experience as a Law Clerk, with a preference for experience in Specialty Risk and Insurance and/or similar practice area;
- A driver’s licence and a car to travel to meetings with clients and court hearings as required;
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to work directly with institutional clients and their employees;
- A keen ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced team;
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines; and
- Significant experience using document management systems including RelativityOne and iManage to organize and analyze large document and data files for efficient use and presentation.
