Position Status: Temporary Full-Time – 12 Month Contract
Available: September 2025
Description Of The Position SickKids Foundation is excited to present our one-year Development Internship program for the Black Community, with the goal of supporting and building the skills of emerging Black professionals in the charitable sector.
This is a comprehensive 12-month contract that will delve into the not-for-profit sector and focus on three crucial business units: EDI/People and Culture, Brand Marketing and Granting and Hospital Relations. Ideally, launching your career by gaining valuable work experience and expanding your network in this space.
You Will
- Gain experience in fundraising and support services at the Foundation and see firsthand how each department operates;
- Assist with implementing changes to granting processes;
- Assist with creating or updating restricted fund tools for staff;
- Working closely with fundraising, third party events, relationships management, granting and brand marketing;
- Provide support to data integrity by maintaining and updating donor records;
- Provide administrative and outreach support for new business strategies in the community;
- Assist and collaborate with the EDI and People & Culture team on special projects
- Proofread materials at all stages of projects;
- Contribute to general administrative tasks;
- Other duties as appropriate.
Qualifications While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:
- Qualified for the position under the criteria of having obtained a university degree or college diploma;
- The SKF Black Development Intern must identify as a member of the Black Community
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the importance of fundraising and stewardship;
- Professionalism with a strong sense of ethics;
- Ability to work independently, with a ‘‘go getter attitude’’ and the ability to take
- Initiative;
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teams and others in the organization;
- Discretion, tact, diplomacy and attention to detail are essential;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment and meets deadlines;
- Good time management and organizational skills;
- A team player.

Total Compensation Package Hiring Salary Range: $38,875 ($21.36)
