The Camp Support person is enthusiastic and has excellent organizational and time management skills. This position supports camp leaders with reporting, discussing concerns with parents, ensuring staff and campers are adhering to health and safety protocols, etc.

A successful candidate must have an interest in a STEM field as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, teaching skills, time management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and English proficiency with some experience in online gaming. Knowledge of coding and robotics such as Minecraft, Scratch and Microbits and advanced computer skills is an asset. Applicants currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a Faculty of Education program are encouraged to apply.
Program Coordinators should be punctual, patient, friendly, reliable, creative, energetic, and work well independently as well as in a group.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of Camp Support include but are not limited to:

Supporting the office and camp staff by completing reports, including: Attendance reporting, Illness reporting, Accident/Injury reporting
-
Completing reports for Head office to discuss with Parents/Guardians
-
Working directly with the site contact to ensure policies/procedures are being followed
-
Being a self-starter and able to work independently without direct supervision
-
Supporting Camp level staff where needed
-
Abiding by STEM Camp policies and procedures; and
-
Carrying out other reasonable duty requests from any member of the Management Team
-
Supporting and addressing camp staff concerns
Note: Candidates applying for any position with STEM Camp must have a valid certificate in Standard First Aid with CPR-C from a reputable provider of first aid training as recognized by WSIB / WCB / WorkSafe BC, as well as a Police Check in the Vulnerable Sector that was issued no earlier than August 22, 2024.
Successful Candidates Should Possess:

Working towards a high school diploma or enrolled at a post-secondary institution

1 year experience working with children

Knowledge and understanding of STEAM related topics

Inspirational and creative thinking skills

Customer service-oriented mindset

Teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to take initiative

Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt to change

Hourly Wage
$19.20 per hour
About STEM Camp
The STEM Camp mission is to inspire Canadian youth through participating in hands-on activities in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in both official languages. STEM Camp provides learning experiences through fun, engaging programming that encourages children to explore their sense of wonder. Children are introduced to engaging STEM activities that promote discovery, reward curiosity, and leave them amazed at what they can do. Since 2013, STEM Camp has “graduated” 44,170 campers and employed over 1,600 college and university students!
