Birla Carbon Canada Ltd in Hamilton, Ontario is looking to expand their Quality Department. We are seeking a Laboratory Technician for our plant who can demonstrate our organizational values of integrity, commitment, passion, seamlessness and speed.

Responsibilities**:**
-
Monitors and tests all customer products in accordance with procedures and quality standards.
-
Completes laboratory logbook entries, lab reports, and lab records with a high degree of precision, accuracy and attention to detail.
-
Ensures all lab equipment is properly calibrated, maintained and tested with standards.
-
Demonstrates a commitment to our customers' satisfaction, product quality, testing accuracy, procedural compliance, on-time performance, safety and the environment.
-
Collaborate with operations and warehouse about quality matters, metrics and standards.
-
Is responsible with the Quality Coordinator for the development of test procedures, for the efficiency of and standardization of Laboratory machines and for the training of the laboratory personnel.

Prepares sample shipments for customers with the required paperwork.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
-
Chemical Technician diploma or equivalent
-
1-3 years’ experience in a continuous process operation is an asset.
-
Excellent planning, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the organization (written and oral).

Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of work.
-
Ability to prioritize amongst a range of tasks and deadlines and to complete the work safely.
-
Ability to take the initiative to complete assigned tasks on time and to standard.

Excellent PC skills.

Commitment to safety and the environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.

Strong customer service orientation.
Work Conditions/Schedule:
